Celebrated on October 27th National Black Cat Day was created to help raise awareness concerning the lower rates of adoptions for these beauties. Most of the time black cats are associated with Halloween, superstitions and considered bad luck. However, in different parts of the world, they are regarded as GOOD LUCK!

Some Fun Facts about Black Cats:

*Great Britain, Japan & Egyptians consider black cats to be good luck/lucky.

*Back in the days of pirates, if the black cat was walking toward you, it was bad luck. If it was walking away, it was good luck.

*Fisherman saw black cats as good luck as well.

*There is no one Black cat breed. Cat Fanciers Association directory list 19 cat breeds and all list "black" as a color option.

*Their coats can "rust."

*There are more male black cats than females.

*Many have golden eyes, which is the result of high melanin pigment content in their bodies.

*Black Cat Appreciation Day is August 17.

Lets celebrate the beauty of these fantastic felines!
